Join 35-year horsemanship expert Elizabeth Zarkos, Ph.D. for our four-week advanced academy that helps those with horse experience expand upon their knowledge and learn training techniques that are rarely taught anywhere else. This class is focused on teaching people how to better read and communicate with horses and will also focus on training techniques that are beneficial for horses of all ages, disciplines and levels.
Learn the various training techniques that Elizabeth uses in training and rehabilitating those horses who have been deemed “untrainable” by other professional trainers.
This program is focused for individuals who are experienced in their knowledge with horses. This means they are comfortable with basic horse care, including leading, grooming, exercising and longeing a horse.
The program will give participants the knowledge to work with horses safely and confidently about the following topics:
- Ground Driving
- Longeing with a Surcingle
- Catching the Unwilling Horse
- Working with Horses at Liberty
- Retraining the Abused Horse
- Advanced Nutrition
- Advanced Medical Care
- Horse and human communication

During this 4-week academy, individuals will be working directly with the horses on the ground. Participants will not ride the horses, but will learn techniques that can help strengthen the human-horse relationship.
Requirements:
1. Participants must be calm around the horses, able to take direction, have a good sense of humor, and have a willingness and desire to learn about horses and horse care. People enrolled in the clinic should genuinely enjoy working around horses.
2. Participants will not ride the horses, but they will be responsible for all care of horses on the ground. For that reason, all people enrolled must wear appropriate clothing, including: jeans, breeches or other long pants, boots and gloves. Shirts should fit well without being too tight or too loose. A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended.
3. This advanced academy is for people who have horse experience, and are comfortable with basic horse care, including leading, grooming, exercising and longeing a horse.
